This is the worst web host I've ever used. They provide a partner service through Costco's Executive membership and seemed like a reasonable price at the time. A few weeks ago the first server went down (for over a day) and they had to move my site to a new server with a new admin interface, this required me to manually reset my subdomains and all my email addresses, etc. Shortly after than the second server died and the site was down for another day, they moved me to a new server. It was a slightly smoother process, though the backup was made a week earlier and some blog posts were lost. Just yesterday the second server died and, after restoring the backups, they informed me that my site had no backup and it was restored EMPTY. I sent them an old backup I made for them to restore. Twelve hours later and nothing has happened, it has been two days and the site is still down. I'm getting out as soon as the backup is restored and I can copy everything to another host

I used these guys because they offered what seemed like a good price thru costco's executive membership. This was a bad decision, I have hosted 3 sites here and had to restore all 3 of them from backups at least once and as I write this the last site I registered is down and I am still waiting for an update on my urgent support ticket. This same site has been down several times over the last couple of months, and has now been down for the past 20 hours. My last urgent call before this current one was not answered in 6 hours after the initial request and finally a letter to the help desk at their parent company spurred them along somewhat, but it was still a full day later they finally told me they had 'lost' the backups and I would have to restore them myself. All in all, VERY disappointing and I'm seriously considering moving to another provider even though I will take a financial hit.

I used to host with them as well..but switched for the same reason last year. Sorry to hear about your loss. I found another great canadian web hosting company called http://www.blacksun.ca that has a great service! My site loads fast, and their team is quite friendly over there. They recently did a major upgrade to their disk space offerings which is nice to see.

If you looking for a new host you may want to check out BlackSun.ca. A Canadian company that offers great service! I switched my site to them and there are no problems at all. They have a toll free number at the top of the page so you can call with any questions you have.

I have used DotCanada.com for 3 years now, and have had at least one major outage per year. In all cases, they proved that they do not really do backups. If I had not backed up myself after changes, I would have lost weeks, if not months, of work each time. When they did a server migration of the site to a new server, there were problems with my site for several days, until I fixed it myself. I used to recommend them for technical users, but I will be switching away from them. I would not recommend them to anyone, even for personal use.

Avoid these guys at all costs. They may seem cheap, but I have hosted several sites with them, and they are the worst host I've ever used by far. My sites have gone down a dozen times each year, not to mention their email servers go down almost once a week. They do not backup their data, ever if they say they do. I lost weeks of work as they migrated to new servers, never informed me, never moved my data and then closed down the old servers with no backups. I am trying to get a backup from them, then I am closing down all my accounts there. I would not reccomend them to anyone unless you want to pay for a ton of headaches.

I indicated in an earlier review that I was very dissatisfied with DotCanada.com, and was planning on switching. Well they forced me to switch over the Labour day weekend by turning off my site after moving it to a new server. I use an independant DNS service, so by not informing me, they left my site pointing to their old server - on which they left a message that the site was pulled for non-payment! Rather embarrasing for our (non-profit) organization. Needless to say, I'm gone, and good riddance to them. Their move to an 'improved' set of hosting servers was horrible - they switched to an entirely different admin interface and removed most of the tools I depended on. They also migrated the databases to a separate server farm, and performed one migration half correctly. They did not at all migrate the other four databases the site depended on. What a mess. I would not touch these guys again with a ten-foot pole.

I am in the midst of a 'Dell Hell' moment with them. They expired my domain name registration without the courtesy of sending me a bill. They did this sometime between 4 and 5:15 p.m. on a Tuesday. When I called them at about 5:15 p.m., it took three explanations and 15 minutes to be told that the billing department only could solve the problem. But the billing department all went home. The billing department was rude, the phone connection was weak, and finally 'Mike' the floor manager rudely told me to respond via email or they couldn't help. I'm still waiting for my site to come back up.

Costco should be ashamed to be hosting partners with this company. I was considering hosting with them until I called the toll free support line to speak with someone. Although, I did get to speak with a rep right away they knew squat about their own product / service offerings, technical requirements, etc. The phone call was a waste of my time, and obviously going by the reviews above the hosting service would be too.
